I have exactly the same issue. The compass is wrong by the same 90degrees as in the previous post photo. Should I send the watch back?

I have the same problem either. I think the development team should clarify the problem, I wonder did they test the watch before shipment? I hope it is not hardware failure.

Yep, same here. Tested it quite a bit yesterday, though only inside my room which seems to have a little bit disoriented field, but still good enough that normal compass and phone compass work well enough.

After calibration, I learned following:

* It does follow magnetic field. (good) (Tested both with Earth's field and external magnet.)

* It has relatively low noise, usable. (good)

* It will point 90 degrees wrong way. (bad) (This should be easily fixable in firmware/OS.) (Tested both with Earth's field and external magnet.)

* It is very sensitive to tilting the watch (the orientation of north shifts one way or the other depending how I tilt the watch, which in certain cases should not happen at least with small tilts). (bad) (This should also be fixable in firmware/OS, read next point..)

* The watch' charging cable connections magnet is in the watch, and it is quite strong; it certainly affects the performance of the compass. Could perhaps also be (part of) the reason why the north/orientation shifts when tilting the watch, as the watch gets tilted, the magnet's field will align more or less with the earth's field. If that is the case, it will need a bit more math in the firmware/OS to compensate for.

So there. I'd say that those problems can be fixed in software. The 90 degree mistake should be a simple fix (just swap two of the 3 axis properly), but compensating for the shifting by tilting may need a bit more studying and some extra math layer.

I am having the same issue. The compass seems to be off about 90 degrees.

I find the problem.
It's all about Vertical & Horizontal

Try it and feel not convenient.

Samfong
Update please.
What is being done to fix the poor/non functional E-compass. There are clearly many buyers of both S and E who are seeing the problem.
