Got this watch yesterday for my birthday, biggest draw was being able to track runs without my phone, seems like that not a reality. Tried every suggestion on this thread, would love to hear from ticwatch.

Same thing happens to me. Impossible to use Strava or Runkeeper or Runtastic with ticwatch e, which is the reason I bought this watch. Mobvoi, please find a fix soon and I will request a refund

Hi all,

Please check the following on the watch

Settings - Connectivity - Location (turned on)

Should you still be having issues, do specify the problem you have with the GPS.

Best,
Jamie

Hi,

Which application were you using the GPS for? Also check you have updated to the latest version for your watch.

Jamie

I have the same problem. The standalone GPS function worked at the beginning when I got the watch couple weeks ago. Last week, after the watch was updated to the latest version, the Runtastic and Google map cannot locate my location if it is disconnected to my phone. I tried factory reset and re-install the apps but still no luck. I am not sure the cause is due to the software update or defective GPS. Please advise me what to do. My watch is Ticwatch S.

So I've got it working 😁. Did a factory reset. Made sure I downloaded google maps,I found it was an easy way to see it searching for gps location. Took about 3 minutes to locate. Then open Strava. Took about 2 minutes to locate. Now it's working fine. Have turned off several times just to make sure it still locates and it does. Still takes a couple of minutes to work but completed my first run this morning with only my Ticwatch S and couldn't be happier. Hope you all can get it sorted.

Have the same issue with my Ticwatch E.

GPS is not working in standalone mode. I get GPS fix ONLY when I'm connected to my phone and my phone has GPS turned on.
Wrote to support twice, and got the same reply both times: you need your phone to be connected to the watch to have GPS. That makes no sense of having the GPS in watch, as you still need a phone in the pocket for example for running.

On other watch even if there is no phone in the pocket, Runtastic gets location and records track, and then it's tracked correctly on the map.
Even map app that is downloaded to the phone completely does not get GPS fix.

For this matter it makes Ticwatch E comepletely worthless :(

Problem with GPS = problem with software. I install from Play Store GNSS-GPS Info app. When i opened, in app i able to see all available satellites. I see 2 available satellites, but none of that not used.
Please fix this in Oreo!
