Actually inside the Charger there is just a circuitboard with the spring loaded contact pins on it. There is nothing regulating the amperage in it.

There is actually no electronics inside the charging tray itself that could fail, Its all mechanic.
Thanks for posting the pic of the inside of the charging dock. As you point out there's nothing electronic in the dock. The charging requirement should be the watch itself. Someone else posted that there might be a fusable link on the little dock circuit board to protect the watch.

The 5V/1A max requirement doesn't really make munch sense. For the source supply it should really be a voltge and a min current.

Current isn't "pushed" from the voltage source. Current is drawn by the device using the power. A power supply can provide "up to" the current listed. A 5v 2a source is just fine providing 5v at 1 amp (or less) if that's what the watch is pullilng. Actually, a computer USB port should only provide 0.5A (500 ma) unless a higer current is negotiated. Even a puck rated for 1A will like be able to provide more current before cutting off the voltage.

A higher voltage is a different story. High voltage can cause problems. Standard USB should always be 5 volts.

A Quickcharge source can provide 9 volts, but that's only after the higher voltage is negotiaged.

An Anker IQ type USB charger will sometimes boost the 5v up a bit to help deal with cable loss when a device is pulling high current. I've seen those types of chargers put out up to 5.2v. I guess that could be a problem if the watch is really picky. It's not unusual for a cheap 5v source to be +/- 5% which would put the source at 4.75 to 5.25.

The watch should really be tolerant of some range on the 5v source.

if Mobvoi is really concerned they could add better voltage protection in the charge puck. This puck claims to have an internal voltage regulator. I don't know if they are telling the truth, but it could be better then the OEM:

P.S: I ordered my TicWatch Pro during the Prime Day sale. I'll have it next week and see how the charging goes. I just can't believe that I can't use the trusty 10 port Anker charger that is already sitting on my kitchen counter.

I founded these two topic inside reddit section:

I had exactly same problem. The watch stopped charging suddenly. By using another charger I could determine it's the problem of the charging cradle. It seems the charging cradle from Mobvoi has an interesting design that if it sense a higher voltage/current it will fry itself and short 5V to GND. This will disable all chargers and no power can flow into the watch.

My solution is to open the charging cradle, unsolder the 5V wire directly to the base of the pogo pin. Viola! It works like a charm! My TicWatch Pro is now happily charging.

I suspect that Mobvoi putting such a "weak" protection in the cradle is to protect the watch... It will protect the watch from high current/voltage. This lead me to think the watch's internal charging circuit may not strong enough for such issue thus from now on I will only charge my Ticwatch Pro with old styled 5W charger (or a PC with low USB output).

You could see the charger internal from here: https://fccid.io/2AHEA-WF12096/Internal ... os-3890025 It's not complicated and you could just solder the red wire (+5V) to the base of pogo pin.

You do this at your own risk. I will not be held responsible with whatever you did with your watch/charging cradle/yourself.....

For my ticwatch pro I had the same problem. I decided to buy another charging dock because I thought I might've used the wrong voltage. That was actually not the case. Apparantly when I ordered a new charging dock, I noticed on my defected one, the charging pins were stuck inside and would not pop out. Maybe this could be because when it magnetically sticks onto the dock, it may press the pins to hard to make them get jammed. This can explain a little bit why it turns on but then it turns back off. I'm trying to jam the pins out. Will write soon if I can come up with a solution.

Dear,
on July 20, 2019 I saw last information on tracking my spare part related to Warranty Ticked #17140
It says:
"LHR / Shipment arrived at airport of destination country"
SO ... the cradle arrived on July 20 in London but ... how many time it needs to arrive in Italy and ... why no info has been updated by July 20 at today ?
Thanks
Paolo

Same issue here, the charging dock suddenly stopped working some 11 months after purchase.

I have followed the recommendations from this thread and filed a support ticket (Warranty ID 19646). However, my ticket has been closed as rejected on the grounds that (quote from their reply email) "...[we] cover the after sales service for orders placed on Mobvoi official website (www.mobvoi.com), Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Amazon orders sold by Mobvoi US, Mobvoi Japan, Mobvoi Official Store, Mobvoi AU. "

Mobvoi Support then suggested me to contact the retailer directly.
Problem is, the retailer (eGlobalCentral in the Netherlands) will ONLY perform a RMA for the complete item! Nevermind the fact that my TicWatch is just fine so returning it is pure nonsense, and only the charging dock is broken. And replacing the charging dock is obviously not an option as it is not available as spare part or aftermarket accessory.

So Mobvoi refused my warranty claim bouncing me to the retailer, and the retailer won't replace my dock.
As customer service goes this is extremely disappointing.

Hi LucaB,

Unfortuantely, We can't anything from our side because your Ticwatch is purchased through an unauthorized retailer.
