Exercise app wont close

I'm having a problem with the exercise app where it wont close. When I try to "finish" the exercise I press the "stop" button and then on the pop-up I click the "check mark" to "end exercise. Then it looks like the app crashes because it flashes through a few screens, goes to sleep, and says "Outdoor run... Tap to return".

Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it? I tried restarting the watch before my run today.
