Re: Left earbud not connected to bluethooth
I had initially the same issue - could not figure out how to get both paired and working.
The process I found to work is:
1: Open the case.
2: Take out only the R bud and put it in your ear.
3: Wait for the pairing sound from the R bud.
4: Take the L bud out from the case and put it in your ear.
5: Wait for the pairing sound from the L bud.
6: Close the case.
Hope this helps someone. I really struggled to get them working reliably at first, but since I figured this sequence out - works every time.

Try the steps including the optional step in this FAQ: https://forum.mobvoi.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=54405.
Do you hear the pairing message?

Re: Left earbud not connected to bluethooth
My notes on the firmware update (September 2019)
Mobvoi notes on V026:
- Improved calling quality
- Fixed touch and in-ear detection bugs
- Fixed pairing of both buds (in my experience works about 80% of the time).
- Supports AAC codec on Android phones that support it.
My notes in obtaining the firmware for the TicPods Free:
- Install Mobvoi app for android.
- In the Mobvoi app, MANUALLY REQUEST firmware: Account (person icon) > Send Feedback > TicpodPro > (in feedback box type) OTA Update (and add email address for mobvoi account in Email Address (optional).
- Plug in case
- FULLY CHARGE the pods in the case (until the lights on front of the case are SOLID green, not flashing)
- TURN OFF any other Bluetooth devices in the room (keep the phone connected to the pods through bluetooth).
- Take both pods out from case
- Connect them to phone bluetooth (as per listening mode)
- (Optional - from Mobvoi) If only one of the TicPods is connecting, insert the TicPods into your ears, and then simultaneously tap them both 5 times. ]
If successfully done, a pairing message should be heard after the taps are completed. If no message is heard, repeat the above steps again.
- With the app on the final "UPDATING..." screen, do the following as the app suggests in the walkthrough.
- Replace first the RIGHT pod into the case and TAP 3 times on the pod (which will rapidly flash blue 3 times then go SOLID GREEN in the case)
- The update will change to "Transfer File" and a percentage - update per earpod takes approximately 5 minutes.

Re: Left earbud not connected to bluethooth
My earbuds were essentially completely broken until they found a way to fix themselves. Waiting for a bit worked for me.
