Onyx vs Charcoal for everyday use. Opinions needed

I just received my Ticwatch 2 Onyx. Very happy with size of this watch and that was a big factor. All other smart watches are pretty much huge and that's not for me.

Here's where I want some opinions. The Onyx is a little fancy for me for everyday use. Just my initial opinion. I'm wondering if the Charcoal version (Amazon shows Black & Rubber which I'm taking as black=Onyx and Rubber=Charcoal? Set me straight on this), would make a better choice for everyday use. I'm often out in the field at job-sites in work clothes as a project manager. I've already put the black rubber band on my Onyx and really like the feel of the whole thing. I'm just wondering whether the less fancy version might be better for my everyday use.

Please chime in with opinions and let me know what you think.

I really like having a device that's not the same as everyone elses, but of course if Ticwatch grows in popularity that would change. Still enough sheeple who will always wear apple and moto so I'll always be different.

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Thanks.

Onyx is better off for everyday use because it uses sapphire screen which can withstand knocks or scratches better than the charcoal model, especially if you often go to the fields / job-sites.

I use the Onyx everyday as it is better looking and has the sapphire screen for protection from scrapes. However, I didn't like the band that it came with. So I bought a milanese band and it looks good and fits comfortably. I can go to work with it, play tennis with it and exercise with it without much problems. Maybe changing the strap to the silicon one that came with it might work better for sports. But I am too lazy to do that and it still works well.

So we are saying that the charcoal is not as robust as the Onyx? I understand the part about the sapphire glass. I'm getting used to the onyx .

BTW, Is the onyx waterproof?

er...read FAQ:

Is the Ticwatch 2 waterproof?

Water Resistant: Ticwatch 2 has a IP rating of 65 which means it is protected from total dust ingress and low pressure water jets from any direction.
Putting your watch under hot water and submerging your watch in liquid (e.g. swimming or shower) is strongly discouraged.

The Onyx with steel strap is quite heavy. I dropped it and flakes of anodised blackness were chipped off the steel strap  .
But I would stick to sapphire, although not too sure how tough is the Onyx's sapphire grade.

@Serwei - I also found the metal links were too heavy. So I changed it to the silicon straps that came with the Kickstarter pledge. However, I just went to Aliexpress and bought a 20mm black milanese band and it's just nice. Not too heavy and the magnetic clasp is strong. I'm sure you can find it on amazon, ebay, alibaba, taobao,...etc as well:

Happened to me the first time I wore the watch (Onyx) work.
