Extracting an APK

Post by danwashere » Wed Oct 26, 2016 12:50 am

Hey so it turns out actually extracting the wear apk from the outer apk. Just download the apk with the whole package thing. Then extract it like a zip or in the app I use called RAR long press and choose extract as archive. Then go to /raw and there should be an apk inside. Extract that and do some soft of file voodoo to get it on your computer and you can adb it onto your watch. However I found that even after all of this, the watch app won't connect to the phone app so tell me if this works or if you have any ideas on fixing connections!!

Since most wear apps use Google's Data and Message API to communicate between the watch and the phone, I don't think it is possible to side load an app and have it connect to the phone's app.
So far I believe only those standalone wear apps will work properly via sideload.
