Screen always on when charging on/off toggle

Post by GnuLinux » Tue Oct 04, 2016 9:38 pm

When charged it should always show time so it could be used to show time an weather etc. Last night when I charged it, time was showing for a little while but then the screen turned black. I have looked for a toggle setting "Screen always on when charging" or similar but found none.

I guess it's to avoid burning oled screen.. but yes it should be a useful toggle

Ironically the screen is always on in ambient mode when NOT being charged! (while the battery lasts). So it is probably safe to assume that it is not because of burn-in.

You can turn this on in developer mode.

Thanks for the answer! :-)
How do one turn this on? Is there any downsides (like security-wise) to turn this on?

I'm not exactly sure about downsides. Apart from burn out (which I think was debunked) I don't think so. It might charge a bit slower though.

I did try it, and it works just fine. The screen will dim, in preparation to turn off, but it never does. So idk, decide for yourself :P

I see the option for Always on when charging, but not to turn the screen off.
Am I missing something?

i believe when you disable the ambient mode, during charging the screen will turn off. Or you can go to power save mode.

To turn on Developer mode, go to settings, about, then tap Ticwear version until you enter developer mode. Go back to Settings and you will now have another setting to toggle called Developer info. There you can find the option to stay on while charging.

If you are concerned about screwing something up, just don't mess with any of the other options.
